Focus on: Q/A & ESD Help
Q. As power densities in IT spaces increase, temperature variances become more common. If moisture content is controlled, do RH variations due to temperature changes affect ESD potential. For example, 60 deg F/50% RH air heated to 100 deg F would have a RH around 15%. Is ESD a concern? A. As air heats up, %RH goes down and materials tend to retain charge longer, i.e. less re-combination of surface charges. It means that ESD precaution has to be taken more seriously. Grounding of personnel handling or touching electronic circuitries becomes critical.

What is the acceptable or allowed ESD level within the production line and other places in the semiconductor manufacturing firm? Is there any law stating that 500V and 100V are acceptable? A. The specific level of your devices determines the specific level of the ESD protection that you require. There is no standard or a law that sets such levels.

Help Info Air ionization can neutralize the static charge on insulated and isolated objects by making the air surrounding them more conductive. Conductive air provides the path to ground for the static charge. Air ionization reduces the static charge in all items in the production environment. Because it uses only the air that is already present in the work environment, it may be employed even in clean rooms where chemical sprays and some static dissipative materials may not be suitable
